Water-In-Fuel (WIF) Capacitive Sensors
The Water-in-Fuel (WIF) capacitive sensors detect the presence of water in diesel in the fuel filter housing assembly by measuring a change in the capacitance of the liquids. It has a unique two- or three-wire design and because it is capacitive it is completely sealed design with no exposed probes or leads for leak-free operation with no moving parts. Compatible with diesel and biodiesels.
Application
By utilizing cutting-edge capacitance measurement technology, the WIF sensor precisely detects the presence of water in diesel inside fuel filter housing assemblies by measuring the change in capacitance of the liquids. Engineered for versatile installation, the WIF sensor can be mounted vertically or horizontally via standard thread (½”-20 UNF) or to customer specification. Constructed from fuel-tolerant materials, the sensor’s sensing location can be positioned as required from the mating surface, ensuring optimal detection capabilities.
Its innovative rugged design ensures robust and enduring performance, even in the most demanding environments. The sensor maintains functionality across a wide temperature range of as low as -20ºC in operation or -40ºC in storage and withstands application pressures up to 10 PSI. This device can endure vibration levels of 15.3 Grms across 3 orthogonal planes for 3 hours per plane, as per BS EN 60068-2-64: 1993, and withstands drops from 1 meter onto concrete.
The WIF sensor boasts a fully sealed, leak-proof construction, eliminating the risk of corrosion or contamination. An external Viton O-ring guarantees a secure and reliable seal, while the integrated AMPSEAL 16 (2- or 3-way) connector facilities seamless re-use during filter replacements and boasts an IP67 ingress rating when mated.
Key Benefits
– Made from fuel tolerant 25% GF Acetal Copolymer (POM-C).
– Sensing location is variable depending on probe length.
– External O-ring for trouble free application sealing.
– Integrated connector allows re-use during filter replacement.
– No exposed components negate corrosion issues.
– All components are on the PCBA inside the housing.
– Can be mounted vertically or horizontally in the application.
– Intended for use in separated fluids, not designed for emulsified mixtures of water and diesel
